N2 - Ultrasonic measurements were performed on single crystals of La2-xSrxCuO4 (LSCO) with x = 0.09, 0.14 and 0.19. We found that the elastic constants of LSCO increase well below the superconducting transition temperature Tc, in contrast with softeniing observed in conventional superconductors. The difference originates from the change in superconducting condensation energy ø under the lattice strain εi induced by a sound wave.
