Abstract
Recent experimental data of 3d core photoemission spectrum (3d-XPS) and L3 photoabsorption spectrum (L3-XAS) in CeF4 are theoretically analyzed by using the impurity Anderson model with a filled valence band. Background contributions in these spectra are carefully taken into account. In order to give a consistent interpretation for 3d-XPS and L3-XAS, it is essentially important to take into account, in the final state of L3-XAS, the Coulomb interaction between 4f and 5d electrons, as well as that between a 5d electron and a core hole. The result of the analysis is compared with that for CeO2.
