Abstract

The pharmacological effects (catalepsy, hypothermia, pentobarbital-induced sleep prolongation and effect on locomotor activity) of cannabinol and its major metabolite, 11-hydroxycannabinol were studied in mice. 11-Hydroxycannabinol was more potent than cannabinol in the pharmacological indices examined. The results indicate that 11-hydroxycannabinol can be categorized as an active metabolite of cannabinol.
