Abstract
The temperature dependence of atomic displacement in superconducting K2RbC60 and non-superconducting Rb6C60 has been studied on the basis of X-ray powder diffraction. Rietveld refinement of X-ray powder diffraction data for K2RbC60 at 10.2 K revealed that the occupancy of Rb+ ions at an octahedral site is not 100% but 71%. It has been found that atomic displacements for C atom and metal ions in K2RbC60 show an increase around its superconducting critical temperature. Such an increase has not been observed in Rb6C60.
