Abstract
Synthesis of [C 6F 5N=CH(2-O-C 6H 3-3-R)] 2TiMeX (R: tBu; X: Br (2), R: tBu; X: Me (3), R: H; X: Me (4)) was achieved by the reaction of methylated titanium halides with sodium salts of the phenoxyimine ligands. These complexes can be activated with equimolar amounts of B(C 6F 5) 3 or Ph 3CB(C 6F 5) 4 to form methyl cationic species, which, upon addition of a small amount of ethylene monomer allows room temperature observation of cationic polymeryl species.
