Abstract

Novel poly(benzobisthiazole-imide)s containing a direct attachment between the imide and thiazole units were synthesized by a two step polymerization procedure involving ring-opening polyaddition and cyclodehydration. The polymers exhibited good solubility and thermal stability in both air and nitrogen.
