Abstract
Characteristics of blowout in high-pressure systems involving gaskets are explained in terms of dimensional analysis based on a fault-sequence model of blowout. The results indicate that gaskets should be made of a ductile material (metal) instead of a brittle one (pyrophyllite or other ceramic materials).
