Abstract
Coarse rock salt, with maximum crystal dimensions of more than 20cm, is well preserved in outcrops, whereas fine-grained salt has lost most of its cohesion. Even on vertical outcrop surfaces, the irregular boundaries of large halite crystals have been accentuated by incipient weathering. The lobate shapes of the subsequent crystals resemble those in the salt domes of the American Gulf Coast.-from Authors
