Structural analysis of folds developed in the Paleozoic and Triassic sequences in Kawakami area, the Okayama Prefecture

Abstract

Two folding events are distinguished in the Kawakami area, Chugoku Zone. The older fold was formed before the sedimentation of the Upper Triassic Nariwa Group (probably Late Permian). The younger fold was formed after the sedimentation of the Nariwa Group (at a time during Late Triassic to Early Cretaceous), and deformed the older structure. The deformation by the older folding is more intense and more important than that by the younger one. -from English summary
