Refractive index change induced by ultraviolet laser irradiations in erbium-doped tellurite glasses

Abstract

A large change of refractive index, δn, induced by ultraviolet excimer laser irridations in Er2O3-doped tellurite-based glass, a promising material for fiber amplifiers was obtained. The amplitude of δn depending on Er2O3-concentrations was also found. It was found that the value of δn/n was larger than 5%.
