Proposal of system coefficients for structural elements of vertical planes in post and beam timber structure

Abstract

In this paper, a method to calculate the 95% bottom allowable limit of the shear strength of a story of a post and beam timber structure is proposed. The proposed method considers the variation of the shear strength of the story in order to reduce the average value of the shear strength. The estimated value by the proposed method and the estimated value by a general method are compared with the 95% bottom allowable limit of the shear strength of a story. It is also proved that the proposed method can predict the 95% bottom allowable limit with sufficient accuracy.
