Abstract

1,5-Ditelluracyclooctane 1 reacted with halogens (I2 and Cl2) to give new dihalogenoditelluranes with a TeIV-TeIV. Reduction of the latter with aqueous NaOH, PhSH, Na2S and SmI2 gave the neutral bis-telluride 1.
