Abstract

The possible competition of superconductivity and ferromagnetism in CexC60 compounds was discussed. It was found that solid-phase reaction of cerium and C60 powders under 600 °C may yield unusual magnetic materials involving strong dia- and ferro-magnetism. The temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity of this material indicated that the diamagnetism was due to the superconductivity. It was also investigated that interplays between the superconductivity and ferromagnetism is possible in this material.
