title = "Pion-pair production from γγ interactions at PEP and the radiative width of the fo meson",
abstract = "Results are presented of an untagged e+e- → e+e- + π+π- experiment performed at PEP with the DELCO detector. In the invariant-mass range 0.7 ≤ Wππ < 2.0 GeV/c2, the QED e+e- background is identified and eliminated, and both the π+π- predictions and the μ+μ- and K+K- background substractions are normalized to the measurement of the e e+e- events. The results agree with a simple model of superposition and interference of the f0 (1270) resonance, produced with helicity 2, with a Born-term continuum. From a fit of the model to the data, the radiative width of the f0 is determined to be Γf 0→γγ = 2.70 ± 0.21 keV.",

note = "Funding Information: We acknowledge the contributions to the DELCO experiment made by the technical staffs of Caltech, SLAC Group A, SLAC Group G, the PEP Storage Ring Division, and by S. Sund, who processed the data. Funding Information: The two-photon process e+e - ~ e+e - + n+n - has been studied by several experiments \[1 \]. A structure in the 7r+Tr-invariant-mass spectrum was found near 1 GeV and attributed to the reaction 77 ~ f0(1270) n+rr -. In those experiments, because it was not possible to separate lepton pairs from the 7r+rr - signal Work supported by the Department of Energy, contract numbers DE-AC03-76SF00515 and DE-AC03-81-ER40050 and the National Science Foundation.",
