Abstract
We present the experimental and theoretical spectra for photoemission from the 2p- and 3s-core levels in CrF2. By consistently analyzing both spectra, we show that the covalency effect in CrF2 is fairly important, compared with MnF2 and FeF2. This situation occurs as a result of the discontinuous change in the effective charge-transfer energy on going from CrF2 to MnF2.
