Orbital ordering in YTiO3: Ti NMR in a single crystal

Abstract

47,49Ti NMR measurements on a single crystal of a ferromagnetic Mott-Hubbard insulator, YTiO3, have been made to study orbital ordering. In particular we have measured frequency-swept NMR spectra in the ferromagnetic state under an external field of 3 T. We analyze the NMR spectra and show that an orbital ordering model in Hartree-Fock and band calculations might be not suitable.
