Abstract
Using superconducting tunnel junctions, phonon transmission for Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) multilayer has been studied spectroscopically. A film with 9 layers of Cd arachidate is formed on a sapphire substrate which passes longitudinal phonon as focusing mode. We find a pronounced decrease in transmission centering 420 GHz corresponding to phonon stop band.
