Abstract

Treatment of acetonide protected 4,5-dihydroxy-2-chloroglycidic ester with magnesium chloride gave 4-chloro-3-hydroxy-2-pyrone in excellent to good yields. Treatment of acetonide protected 4,5-dihydroxy-2-chloroglycidic ester with magnesium chloride gave 4-chloro-3-hydroxy-2-pyrone in excellent to good yields.
