Abstract

Polymerization by the direct coupling using silylated dialkyne is a facile method for the synthesis of polymers bearing a carbon triple bond in the main chain. The Cu(I)/Pd(O)-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction of alkynylsilanes and aryl triflates was applied to the synthesis of polymers containing diaryl-ethyne moieties with Mn values as high as 11,700. The polymers were shown to be potential materials with high thermal stability.
