Nonlinear Glass Materials for Photonic Applications

Abstract

Review of our challenges to fabricate and demonstrate novel nonlinear glass materials for advanced photonic applications is presented. Silica- and tellurite-based glasses are focused from the point of photo-induced effects such as refractive index change and nanometer-scale crystallization. Periodic structures (gratings) of nanocrystals and dot-patterns of laser writing were successfully fabricated using UV and IR laser irradiations.
