Magnon and phonon Raman scattering in Pr2CuO4

Abstract

The spin excitations and the lattice vibrations in the insulator phase of the electronic superconductor Pr2CuO4 were investigated by wide-range Raman spectroscopy. The origin of the anomalous magnon spectra as in the case of the hole superconducting cuprates are assigned to the four-spin cyclic exchange interactions. The obtained two-spin superexchange integral J is 1040 cm-1. The phonon energies are 233 cm-1 in Alg, 287 cm-1 in Blg, and 165 and 474 cm-1 in Eg.
