Abstract
Triple-axis spectrometry on dimerized Heisenberg antiferromagnetic chains in CuGeO3 shows continuum scattering above a resolution limited mode. The continuum intensity at 10 meV corresponds to a dimerization gap of ≈ 3.5 meV for a one-dimensional fermion model of the Cu spins. The mode intensity in the b* interchain direction varies more strongly than predicted by simple theories in three dimensions.
