Abstract

Congenital lumbar hernias are rare, and the optimal surgical procedures for hernia repair are still controversial. A 13-month-old girl with a left-sided, 7 cm × 7 cm, congenital lumbar hernia underwent laparoscopic repair with autologous free fascia lata graft reinforcement. At 6 months, she was doing well with no recurrence of the hernia. Laparoscopic repair with free fascia lata graft reinforcement is a safe and feasible surgical option for the treatment of large congenital lumbar hernias.
