Abstract

A new tantalum-imine complex TaCl3(dme)(PhCH=NCH2Ph) (1) (DME = 1,2-dimethoxyethane) was synthesized by treatment of N-(benzylidene)benzylamine with low-valent tantalum derived from TaCl5 and zinc in DME and toluene. The molecular structure of complex 1 was determined by X-ray crystallographic analysis, and its reactivity toward unsaturated compounds examined.
