Abstract
We investigated the relationship between atopic dermatitis and the month of birth in 973 patients diagnosed with this disease at our clinic over a 1-year period. There were 50 infants and children under three years old who showed a tendency to have been born in August. In contrast, the 511 adult patients aged 20 years or more showed no clustering of birth in this month. The month of birth influences environmental conditions in the neonatal period, and thus may be related to the development of atopic dermatitis.
