Investigation of laser micro-drilling method for multi-layered artificial skin

Abstract

Micro-drilling method to satisfy both air permeability and aesthetic quality is required for a multi-layered artificial skin, which can be applied for facial prosthesis treatment. The micro-holes drilled by 4th harmonic of ns pulsed Nd: YAG laser provided the breathability with good aesthetic for multi-layered artificial skin. Moreover, a high pulse repetition-rate of ps pulsed laser could improve the processing efficiency of micro-drilling with good aesthetic by a proper irradiation method, although the heat accumulation might affect the visibility around the drilled hole by a shot interval time at a high pulse repetition-rate.
