Inspection of bingo bridge by using high-sensitivity magnetic nondestructive testing

Abstract

In Bingo Bridge which is the suspended bridge in Nara Prefecture, fracture of hanger rod was found in 2015. Furthermore, in this bridge, the surface corrosion of main cable and stiffening girders were also observed. This bridge was closed to traffic until all the hanger rods replaced to the hanger ropes. Therefore, to inspect the corrosion of main cable and the stiffening truss during the road closure, the high sensitivity magnetic nondestructive testing was applied. Additionally, one of the purpose of this research is to investigate the application of high sensitivity magnetic nondestructive testing on site The work was supported by the Council for Science, Technology and Innovation and Cross-ministerial Strategic Innovation Promotion Program (SIP), Infrastructure Maintenance, Renovation, and Management.
