N2 - Inelastic neutron scattering study has been performed on various phonon branches of CuGeO3 single crystal. The coupling mode between LA and LO branches along the [001] direction was observed near 23 meV at (0,0,2.2) position. Anomalous broad scattering with a peak near 21 meV and FWHM about 20 meV was measured on the line between (0,0,2.3) and (0,0,2.5). TO phonon branch along the [001] direction becomes softer near zone center but the energy is independent of temperature.
