Generating quantitative cause-consequence explanation for operator support systems

Abstract

It is important to generate operator support information for taking a suitable counter action depending on a plant condition. This study proposes a technique to explain quantitatively the effect of a counter action by combining a functional model and a numerical simulation. The applicability of the technique is examined by applying to an oil refinery plant. As the results, it is confirmed that this technique can generate explanation sentences including quantitative information of causal relations of the effects of a counter action.
