Frequency domain iterative cancellation of periodic noise

Abstract

This paper proposes frequency domain iterative cancellation for suppressing a periodic noise. The proposed cancellation alleviates a periodic noise in the desired frequency band by using an interference canceller with a replica of the noise. The proposed iterative canceller achieves superior replica estimation even when the signals in all the frequency bands are collapsed by the periodic noise. The performance of the proposed iterative cancellation is evaluated in terms of the signal power to noise power ratio(SNR) by computer simulations. The proposed cancellation obtains a gain of 25 dB even when the carrier power to noise power ratio(CNR) is about 0 dB by iterating the cancellation 2 times, while the no-iterative cancellation achieves only a gain of 4 dB.
