Abstract
The compositional range and the structure of the solid solution of the Pb-added 2212 phase has been studied in Bi2Sr3-xCaxCu2PbyOz heated in Ar at 795°C to 822°C. The monophasic compositional range increases as x decreases. For x=1.25 monophasic products with y⪳0.6 can be obtained. The structure symmetry changes from tetragonal in y⪳0.3 to orthorhombic in y≧0.4. The monophasic compositional range and the Pb-compositional dependence of the lattice parameters in the Pb-added 2212 phase are remarkably different from those in Bi2-yPbySr1.5Ca1.5Cu2Oz reported so far. Tc decreases as y increases.
