N2 - Double-stranded DNA was effectively complexed with alginic acid and immobilized on a surface of polystyrene microtiter plate. Dose-dependent binding of anti-DNA autoantibodies was finely observed to the solid phase DNA-alginate complex in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). In contrast, non-specific binding of antibodies to alginate was scarcely detected ratheer than to poly-L-lysine. These results show an availability of the solid phase DNA-alginate complex as an antigen in ELISA for detection of anti-DNA antibodies.
