Abstract
To get a practical discharge equation of the Ice Harbor type fishway, the main flow features of this type of fishway based on a hydraulic model were studied experimentally. In the Ice Harbor fishway, water flows through the submerged orifice and over the weir simultaneously. The authors measured the detailed velocity profiles of the weir and the orifice flows. Through the experiments, the characteristics of discharges for both the orifice and the weir flows were clarified. An expression for the combined discharge of a Ice Harbor type fishway is also provided.
