Control of five-axes active magnetic bearing systems using parameter adjustment of mode matrices

Abstract

This paper proposes the control method of five-axes active magnetic bearings (AMBs). The proposed methods provide systematic design of mode selection and mode distribution matrices. In addition, these matrices are set based on the rotor's center of gravity and magnetic force coefficient of electromagnets. Experimental results of step response for AMBs show effects of the proposed methods.
