Abstract
BTV (Borehole Television) observations were carried out during excavation of two large underground caverns to investigate the behavior of the discontinuities. Throughout the observations, Behavior such as opening of cracks, cracking of veins and generation of cracks were estimated in detail. In two power stations, initial properties of discontinuities were very different, which brought distinct difference in the behavior of discontinuities. Through BTV observations, correlation between initial properties and behavior of discontinuities is discussed. With monitoring data of rock displacement and stress, also discussed are correlation between behavior of discontinuities and characteristics of stress and displacement of the rock mass.
