Abstract

Tribological phenomena usually occur at a solid-solid interface. New approaches with neutron scattering methods are applied to get information on a state at a metal-metal interface in this paper. Surface profiles and oil film thickness at a metal-metal interface are measured by neutron reflectometry, and microscopic structures of simple lubricants are observed by neutron diffractometry.
