N2 - A recent solution to the strong CP problem by Dine, Fischler and Srednicki is examined to see what it means to baryon nonconserving processes: nucleon decay and cosmological baryon asymmetry. If the new chiral symmetry is preserved much below the GUT scale, it may give a potential conflict with a sizable baryon excess. An explicit SO(10) model with a harmless axion is then constructed.
