### Abstract

The effects of torsion and curvature on the flow in a helical pipe of square cross section are studied by introducing a non-orthogonal helical coordinate system and series expansion of solution for small curvature. The numerical calculations are obtained by the iterative method. The calculations are carried out for 0 ≤ ε ≤ 0.2, 0 ≤ λ_{0} ≤ 3.16 and 500 ≤ D_{n} < 1500, where ε is the dimensionless curvature, λ_{0} is the ratio of torsion to cubic square root of curvature and D_{n} is the Dean number.
