Anisotropy in thermal expansion of La2-xSrxCuO4

Abstract

We report on the anisotropy of thermal expansion α of La2-xSrxCuO4 (x=0.14) detwinned single crystals. Using observed discontinuities in α at the tetragonal-orthorhombic transition temperature, Td, the uniaxial stress dependence along the a-, b- and c-axis are estimated as dTddPi=a,b,c,∼+130, -310 and +60 K/GPa, respectively. We also discuss the structural fluctuation near Td.
