Abstract
The longitudinal elastic constants in high-quality single crystals La1.86Sr0.14CuO4 were measured across the superconducting transition temperature Tc under magnetic fields up to 14T applied both parallel and normal to the CuO2-plane. We found anomalies of elastic constants at Tc, indicating the anisotropic coupling between the high- Tc superconductivity and lattice. We newly found anomalies below 4K under high field, suggesting the field induced instability of the lattice.
