This paper presents an optically reconfigurable gate array (ORGA) using four liquid crystal spatial light modulators as four programmable holographic memories. The ORGA consists of a holographic memory array, a laser array, and an ORGA-VLSI, which has a similar fine-grained programmable gate array to field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) so that the function of the programmable gate array is perfectly equivalent to that of FPGAs. However, the ORGA can be reconfigured optically using an optical bus between the holographic memory array and ORGA-VLSI. Therefore, it can support a high-speed dynamic reconfiguration. The ORGA can store four configuration contexts on four liquid crystal spatial light modulators. The programmable gate array on the ORGA-VLSI can be reconfigured dynamically with four configuration contexts. This paper presents a perfect 1.41-2.04/is period high-speed dynamic reconfiguration demonstration on the ORGA.
