Abstract
This paper deals with the results of an experimental study of the technics of reduction of power consumption for plug-type pneumatic conveying of granular materials. Experiments were performed with a pipe line 52 mm in diameter and 16.3 m in total length, consisting of horizontal and vertical parts and 3 bends. Conveying air is alternately fed in two ways, to the top of the material tank and to the starting point of the conveying pipe. Millet grains were used as conveyed materials. In conclusion, the optimum conveying conditions of plug-type flow are briefly discussed and suitable bend curvatures which minimize the pressure drop are specified.
