Abstract

The absence of infrarenal Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) is a rare IVC anomaly. Several reports have described the absence of the entire posthepatic IVC or the absence of infrarenal IVC with preservation of the suprarenal segment. We report a case of a woman with the isolated infrarenal IVC absence. In our case, the existence of a cord like structure in the location of IVC and adrenal calcification implies the possibility that the absence of infrarenal IVC occurs as a result of perinatal event such as IVC thrombosis.
