A Method for Displaying Puncture Information in CT-Guided Puncture Assistance System

Abstract

Recently, many physicians are performing CT-guided puncture, which is a technique that guides puncture routes using CT images. Theoretically, a CT-guided puncture can penetrate the targets in all the parts of the body. However, we must solve the following problems: the puncture range is limited, physicians need training, and the exposure dose increases during surgery. We previously proposed a CT-guided puncture system that facilitates punctures from various directions with CT guidance. We propose a method that displays puncture information for a CT-guided puncture assistance system. Our system displays three types of puncture information: the sectional information of the human body by CT images, position information of the needle and the target, and the puncture route from the needle to the target. In our evaluation, the physician actually displays a CT-guided puncture assistance system using our proposed method and we confirmed its usefulness.
