A case of nerve sheath myxoma of the right ring finger

Research output: Contribution to journalArticle

Abstract

We report a rare case of nerve sheath myxoma on the right ring finger of a 67-year-old woman. Because of multiple previous surgeries, a definitive preoperative diagnosis was difficult. When the diagnosis of this tumor is uncertain, S-100 protein immunostaining is very useful for confirmation. Since the relapse rate is high, long-term follow-up is necessary. In this case, the flexor tendon was exposed with tumor excision. Reconstruction with an adipofascial flap was relatively simple and useful, except for the loss of the finger with tendon exposure, and postoperative hand mobility was good.
